Committees

Community Outreach Committee
This committee researches and organizes community outreach programs. The committee does four or more events per year, increasing awareness of REALTORS® involvement in our communities. Committee activities can range from back to school supply drives, food drives and Silent Angel raffles to Habitat home builds. All REALTOR members are encouraged to find their favorite spot with this committee. BTW – it’s the “fun committee.”

MLS Committee
The MLS Advisory Committee meets monthly to give suggestions and recommendations to the HAR board of directors on items that affect the operation of the Multiple Listing Service. All REALTOR members are eligible to serve on this committee.

Commercial Committee
The Commercial Committee provides our Commercial members an opportunity to meet and discuss issues and matters that affect their business. Committee meetings are held once per quarter at the Association office. Typically alternate months of the quarter members have Lunch Networking meetings (think of them as Caravans without all the driving) at different venues around the community. This committee is open to all REALTOR® members participating in, or interested in, commercial real estate.

Property Management Committee
The Property Management Committee provides our members, who are property managers, an opportunity to meet and discuss issues and matters that affect their business. Committee meetings are typically held once per month at the Association office. This committee makes recommendations to board of directors concerning issues that relate to their specialty. This committee is open to all REALTOR® members participating in, or interested in, real estate property management.

Banquet Committee
The Banquet Committee plans the annual installation awards banquet. The committee, meets several times each year to create a plan to be approved by the board of directors. The committee then works on décor, entertainment and other details associated with the banquet. The committee does set up and breakdown on banquet day. “The more, the merrier,” is this group’s mantra. This is the other “fun committee.” All REALTOR® members are eligible to serve on this committee.

Education Committee
The Education Committee is responsible for reviewing and recommending Continuing Education, NAR Designation Courses, and other education courses that will be offered at the Association during the calendar year. All REALTOR® members are welcome to be members of this committee*. The Education Committee meets 3-4 times per year or as needed.

RPAC Committee
The RPAC Committee plans and facilitates RPAC fundraisers for the given year, including the annual phone bank fundraising event. This group will solicit contributions for RPAC and for RPAC events, as needed. The group will also work towards increasing the participation of members in RPAC by educating members on what RPAC does, and also recruit new major investors. This committee is open to all REALTOR® members.

Government Affairs Committee
The Legislative Committee keeps tabs on what's happening in the areas of government, ensuring HAR is aware of possible changes to private property rights, and also working with elected officials to ensure they understand the cause/effect of legislation on housing and affordability. This committee also interviews candidates for office and makes recommendations for PAC funding. This committee is quite busy on election years, with longer meetings when interviewing many candidates. All REALTOR members are eligible to serve on this committee.

Elections Committee
The Elections Committee conducts the ballot distribution, certifies a quorum and conducts the official vote count for HAR Directors and Officers election at the September General Membership meeting. The Elections Committee meets one time per year. Only REALTOR® members appointed by the HAR Board of Directors may sit on this committee. Realtor® members are welcomed to express their interest to be on this committee by submitting the REALTOR® Volunteer form.

Nominating Committee
The nominating committee meets two months before the annual election. The committee is comprised of seven (7) REALTOR® members, each from different brokerages, appointed by the president with the approval of the HAR board of directors. No candidates may be on the nominating committee. REALTOR® members are welcomed to express their interest to be on this committee by submitting the REALTOR® Volunteer form.

Grievance Committee
The Grievance Committee reviews ethics complaints as well as requests for arbitration to determine if they merit a hearing from the Professional Standards Committee. There cannot be more than one individual from a single real estate company on the Grievance Committee. This committee is only available to REALTOR members. Training is required to sit on this committee. Training is provided by the Board at no cost.

Professional Standards Committee
This committee is composed of a number of diverse members are called to sit on a hearing panel should a complaint be forwarded from our grievance committee. Training is required to sit on this committee. Training is provided by the Board at no cost. Members of the Board of Directors as well as the Grievance Committee cannot serve on the Professional Standards Committee.
